Great Batusi! Designer Dreams Up a Hot Rod for Batman

For over seven decades, Batman, also known as the Caped Crusader and the Dark Knight, has captured the imagination of comic book readers as well as television and cinema viewers in his quest to bring justice Gotham City and keep the streets clean from evil-doers; sometimes in a very comical, tongue-in-cheek fashion (1966 TV Series), other times in a dark and perhaps tragic manner (Dark Knight). One of the coolest things about Batman other than man himself are his high-tech toys and especially his ride, aptly called the Batmobile, of which we've seen many, many iterations over the years, with this writer's personal favorites being the 1966 television model based on the Lincoln Futura Concept and the Tim Burton's live-action film edition. In essence, the Batmobile can be any kind of car, though, that doesn't mean we like everything we see. This one, however, a hot-rod edition of the Batmobile designed by Mark La Frenais, looks pretty cool in our books and we wouldn't mind seeing it make the jump from a computer generated design to a real-life, fire-breathing, V8-powered bat-monster. Glasses-free 3D breakthrough from Seoul University

Giant underwater isopod fasts for 4 years, feels great (VIDEO)Researchers in South Korea have developed new technology that could enable 3D television and cinema to be viewed without glasses. The team, from Seoul National University, created a slatted barrier that is placed on the screen itself and creates the illusion of depth in the viewer’s perception. Previous attempts at making glasses-free 3D TV have made use of a similar technology, but they required the screen to be viewed from a certain angle. The South Korean researchers got around this problem by creating the slat effect using polarisers similar to those that feature in the lenses of 3D glasses. They claim their method uses less projector space and is cheaper than current 3D projection technology.  Source: Advanced TelevisionImage: flickr.com

Dr. Melba Ketchum To Be Interviewed By George Knapp On Coast to Coast AM Tonight

Two and a half years ago, George Knapp sat down with Dr. Melba Ketchum and David Paulides to talk about the Bigfoot DNA project they were working on. Knapp said that in order to peek at Ketchum's research material, he was required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. For two years, he kept his silence and was not allowed to talk about what he had learned. Last December, Knapp wrote a blog post titled, "I’m dreaming of a Bigfoot Christmas", explaining the dilemma Ketchum would face if she tried to publish her "scientific paper":
The well-meaning Dr. Ketchum naively assumed that the world of science would welcome her data with open arms and open minds. Her initial draft of a scientific paper unwisely referred to the existence of a Bigfoot-like creature, and she was certain the information from her study would receive a fair hearing from the scientific world. My friend the microbiologist gave her the sad-but-true news that no mainstream science journal in the world would ever publish a paper, or allow for an honest peer review, of any paper that mentioned Bigfoot or Sasquatch by name. Unlike my TV prediction, that one proved prescient in the extreme.Tonight (2/17) on Coast to Coast AM, George Knapp will sit down with Ketchum again, probably to discuss the backlash from not only the Bigfoot community, but also the scientific community. Ketchum posted on Facebook this morning: "Will be on Coast to Coast tomorrow night. I have sent documentation to George Knapp as supporting evidence."Source: : Bigfoot-Evidence

UK embracing hi-tech TV

TV-loving UK consumers lead the world in using the latest technology to enhance their viewing experience, Ofcom research has revealed. The UK is ahead of other countries such as Japan and the USA for catching up with TV online and is at the forefront of using new technology such as smart TVs and digital video recorders (DVRs). Ofcom’s report shows that the UK is embracing the latest TV technology, as the country becomes one of the first all-digital nations, following the digital TV switchover which was completed in October. As well as being the leading country for the adoption of digital video recorders, UK consumers are the most likely in the world to access TV content over the Internet. Almost a  quarter  (23 Internet users claimed to do this every week – driven by  per cent) of UK the popularity of online TV catch-up services such as BBC iPlayer, Sky Go and 4OD. The USA ranked second with 17 per cent, with Spain third (16 per cent). The UK also has one of the highest proportions of TV homes with HD – at 41 per cent, higher than France (18 per cent), Germany (28 per cent) and Japan (31 per cent), but behind the US (49 per cent). UK consumers are also embracing the new generation of smart TVs – enabling access to online services such as catch-up TV viewing, social networking and gaming on the TV set. Fifteen per cent of UK consumers say they own a smart TV. This is the same as France, but compares to 10 per cent in the USA. The average UK viewer watches over four hours (242 minutes) of TV every day, with only the USA (293 minutes) and Italy (253 minutes) watching more. Earlier this year, Ofcom revealed that TVs in the UK’s living rooms continue to get bigger. Over a third (35.4 per cent) of TV sets sold in Q1 2012 were either ‘super-large’ (33” to 42”) or ‘jumbo-sized’ (43”+), up from 6.8 per cent in 2005. Source: Advanced TelevisionImage: flickr.com
