More than half of EMEA's senior business managers expect their meeting rooms to be fully digital by 2014, according to research carried out last month by InAVate, a leading facilities management magazine and Barco.
The ‘Meeting room of the future survey’ canvassed opinion on collaboration and meeting room technology among more than 300 IT and facilities managers as well as other senior decision makers in leading corporations throughout the EMEA region. InAVate, Premises and Facilities Management Magazine and Barco joined forces to find out what end users priorities, barriers and spending habits are when it comes to investing in meeting spaces. Fifty-nine per cent of respondents believed their meeting rooms would be fully digital by 2014. That percentage jumped to 94% by 2020. Within the firms surveyed IT managers (47%) led the way as the primary decision makers. This was followed by CIOs (30%) and facilities
managers (28%). These decision makers were playing with an average budget of €10,000. Presentation tools featured as a priority with a most respondents saying photos and videos featured in presentations in their companies. Remote conferencing technology and audio reproduction systems followed presentation tools as must-have features for meeting rooms. Technical issues proved to be a particular frustration. Nearly half of those canvassed said they would shy away from investing in technology they felt would increase the time it takes to set up a meeting room.
