American astronomers have reportedly discovered a planet likely to be composed of graphite and diamond. The new planet, called 55 Cancri e, is twice Earth's size and eight times as heavy. It’s located 40 light years away from us and orbits a star in the constellation of Cancer, which can be seen with a naked eye. It’s also blazing hot, with temperatures rising to as high as 1.648° Celsius and a year lasting only 18 hours. Although not the first “diamond planet” known to scientists, 55 Cancri e is by far the closest one to the Earth. Source: Voice of Russia
