Those in the know about alien abductions are surely aware that there are some common threads in almost all of these stories. For one thing, people who tell alien abduction stories usually describe being taken aboard an alien spacecraft where they are usually subjected to a physical examination, sometimes in a way that seems perversely sexual. Stand-up comics may joke about anal probes in alien abductions, but that has been a common element in many alien abduction stories. One of the most terrifying elements in all alien abduction stories is the way abductees describe being conscious of the alien abductions, but they are usually paralyzed, totally helpless to do anything to resist whatever the aliens want to subject them to. Sometimes in alien abduction stories the aliens try to reassure the victims via telepathy that no harm will come to them, but many victims in their alien abduction reports, tell of being totally terrified of their captors, and of being paralyzed, naked and laid out on a cold metal examination table. None of those elements of an alien kidnapping sounds very pleasant, and indeed, victims of these experiences often report being plagued by nightmares and flashbacks of the experience months even years later.
